Signature Service — Rhode Island
Custom Staircases in Rhode Island
Design-to-completion custom staircase builds. This is our most distinctive offering — and something most Rhode Island flooring contractors simply can't do.
The Centerpiece of Your Home
A custom staircase isn't just functional — it's a statement. It's often the first thing you see when you walk into a home, and the right staircase ties every floor and room together beautifully.
Custom staircase design and installation is our signature service — the one that sets us apart from every other flooring contractor in Rhode Island. We design, source, fabricate, and install from start to finish, handling everything in-house with owner Jayson Matias personally overseeing every detail.
We work in all the major hardwood species and can combine hardwood treads with painted risers, match your existing floors, or create something entirely new. If you have a vision, we'll help you execute it. If you're not sure where to start, we'll walk you through the options.
Every custom staircase build comes with our 2-year labor warranty and full owner accountability from day one.

What Customers Say
"We had a completely custom staircase built — new design, white oak treads, painted risers, and a new handrail. Jayson walked us through every decision and the finished product is the centerpiece of our home. Absolutely stunning."
"I got quotes from three contractors. Two said they couldn't do a full custom build. Jayson was the only one who could handle the entire scope. The staircase came out exactly as I envisioned — better, actually."
"We replaced our old carpeted stairs with a full hardwood staircase. Jayson matched the treads to our existing white oak floors and the transition is seamless. The craftsmanship is exceptional."
Frequently Asked Questions
What does a custom staircase build include?
A full custom staircase build includes design consultation, material sourcing, fabrication, and complete installation of treads, risers, stringers, and railings. We handle everything from your first conversation to the final coat of finish.
What materials can you use for custom staircases?
We work with red oak, white oak, maple, pine, Brazilian cherry, and other hardwood species. We can also combine hardwood treads with painted risers, or use engineered wood where appropriate. We'll help you choose based on your home's style and your budget.
Can you match my existing hardwood floors?
Yes — matching the staircase to existing floors is a specialty of ours. We test stain on the actual wood and compare carefully to your floors before committing to a final color.
How long does a custom staircase build take?
Custom staircase builds typically take 1–3 weeks from start to finish, depending on the scope, material availability, and design complexity. We don't schedule start until all materials are on hand and inspected.
How much does a custom staircase cost?
Every custom staircase is priced individually based on design, materials, and scope. There's no standard price per stair. Jayson visits your home and provides a detailed quote after assessing the project.
Do most flooring companies offer custom staircase builds?
No — this is genuinely rare. Most flooring contractors handle sanding and refinishing of existing stairs, but very few offer full design-to-completion custom builds. It's our signature service and one of the key reasons customers choose us.
