Wrentham, MA · Prefinished Hardwood Installation & Custom Staircase Renovation
Wrentham, MA — Red Oak Hardwood Installation & Custom Staircase Renovation

A Coordinated Transformation, From Floors to Staircase
For these Wrentham, Massachusetts homeowners, the goal was to replace carpet with hardwood that complemented their existing floors, then update the carpeted staircase to complete the renovation.
Independent Wood Flooring coordinated the work in two phases, allowing the homeowners time to settle their belongings between the flooring installation and staircase renovation. Jayson and our in-house team handled the project with careful preparation, attention to the surrounding home, and custom craftsmanship.
Phase One
Prefinished Red Oak Flooring
We removed the existing carpet, padding, staples, and tack strips and disposed of the removed materials off-site.
We supplied and installed 2¼-inch Select & Better prefinished red oak, selected to match the existing hardwood as closely as possible. Because some furniture needed to remain in the home, our team carefully worked around it throughout the installation.
Preparation included removing the baseboards so the flooring could be installed with proper expansion space around the perimeter. We laid HWD underlayment beneath the new hardwood, then completed the flooring installation.
Afterward, we reinstalled the baseboards, caulked their top edges, filled nail holes, and returned the furniture to its place.
Rather than moving immediately into the staircase work, we scheduled a week between phases so the homeowners could put their belongings back and prepare for the next stage.

Phase Two
Custom Staircase Renovation
With the new flooring complete, we returned to transform the carpeted staircase.
The updated staircase features wood treads, white risers, black metal balusters, and a square white newel post. Warm wood tones complement the hardwood flooring, while the contrasting white and black elements give the entryway a refreshed appearance.
The before-and-after photographs show how changes to the treads, risers, and railing details transformed the staircase and brought the two phases of the renovation together.
